The University of Massachusetts, or UMass, in Boston is the third largest campus of the University of MA. Established in 1964, the campus covers 177 acres of land in Boston and is the only private university in the city. With a faculty of over 1000, UMass Boston provides degrees in a vast number of disciplines and is primarily a public research university.
Located off Interstate 93, UMass Boston is easily accessible through the MBTA Red Line. MBTA bus stops are also available on the campus. Living near the university would mean living in Boston which can be a rather expensive option for most students. Other options include Dorchester, Roxbury and South End.
